Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Volario's is a very nice addition to Winter Park's food offerings. We went for dinner to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and we were not disappointed. The service was perfect and the food very good. Nice selection of drinks and the menu has a variety of food wide enough that everybody should find something they like. Bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil are offered with dinner, which is very nice and becoming unfortunately more and more of a rarity. Both the quatro fromaggio and the Vesuvio pizza were very good. They use ricotta a fair amount, which would explain the richness of the quatro fromaggio pizza and also of the crepes. For dessert my daughter picked a decadent salted caramel ice cream pie. I had made the reservation online, mentioning my daughter's birthday, and, to her delight, they did not forget to wish her a Happy Birthday, and to put a candle on her dessert. Everything was perfect, we'll go back when visiting Winter Park!

Unfortunately our last visit to Volarios was hugely disappointing. We arrived for our reservation and were led past the other dinner guests, into an empty "private" room and offered a table behind a door, next to a large, uncleaned, unset table. I noticed that there were several open tables in the main dining room and asked if we could be seated there. The hostess ROLLED HER EYES at us and begrudgingly sat us in the main room, amongst the other diners. So....the night was off to a poor start already. This rude and condescending attitude would have been hard to overcome even with outstanding food and service. Things quickly went downhill from there.... First attempt at ordering a bottle of wine resulted in being told wine was not chilled, so they were putting it on ice. We made a different selection and were assured it would be available and cold. Ten minutes later, (our food was already on the table!) we were told that our second selection was not available. We were offered a different bottle (a Kendall Jackson???) for the same price as the first ($10 off) which we accepted, but by the time the wine was poured, it was a full 30 minutes from the time we first ordered. We were almost finished with our first course. Slow service. Food, just average at best. Not the same inspiring flavors as our previous visits. We left feeling sad and hungry, which is unfortunate, since we have had nothing but high praise for this restaurant based on previous visits. Oh, by the way, that "private " room remained empty for the duration of our dinner, and the main dining room was never full! Perhaps they will get their act together again before ski season. (On a positive note, the corn bisque was amazing, and the inedible eggplant pizzetta was taken off the bill.)

We came here as guests of Judy (one of the employees here) and I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of food considering Winter Park is a small town in the mountains. We decided to order family style between 4 adults in order to try as many menu items as possible. For starters we had the Bruschetta and the pork and veal meatballs. The bruschetta is topped with house made pork sausage and was delicious. Even better were the meatballs which came with arrabiata, basil, polenta, parmigianino. I have never had polenta with meatballs before and I can say that it is a delectable combination. We had 2 pizzas- the Vesuvio and Polpo alla griglia (octopus). The Vesuvio was my favorite of the two. It was made with the house-made sausage and had quite a kick to it. The octopus pizza was also very good - the octopus was grilled nicely and delicious. It was a bit dry and definitely had a kick to it too. The 2 pastas we had were the mushroom paperdelle and the lamb gnocchi. Surprisingly I liked the paperdelle much better as the pasta was cooked perfect al dente and the mushrooms added some earthy goodness to the dish. Being a fan of lamb and gnocchi i conceptualized this dish differently. I found it to be good but a tad bit acidic (perhaps the goat cheese) and soupy. I thought the lamb should have been a bit more savory as well. For desert we had probably the richest chocolate cake I have ever tried. I'm not a big sweets guy but everyone at the table died over it. The service here was exemplary. Our servers were extremely attentive and our glasses were always full. This is a GREAT place for a good meal in Winter Park and there are several items on the menu that are pretty affordable.

Great Sunday night special. Homemade pasta was wonderful. Nicely crafted cocktails. Friendly servers and management.

Yep every visit is still 5 stars! This is my favorite place in Winter Park. I had the lamb gnocchi again - still amazing. The Vesuvio pizza was incredible and the perfect thing to order to share with a group! It was my Bday last night and I choose Volario's because its the best restaurant in Winter Park. Matt & Topher even made me a special Bday drink a beautiful pink slushy drink in a martini glass. I love to dine in the bar lounge area because it's casual, warm and more inviting than the dining room. It was the perfect place to celebrate!!!

We had a private party of 20 in their back room. The ambiance of that room, as well as the whole restaurant, is really on point. Very warm and rustic, but with elegance as well. The service was excellent, as was the meal. The pizzas and antipasti and and salads and pastas that I tasted were mostly excellent. The only minor hiccups were that the parpardelle and the fettucine dishes lacked sauce, and the parpardelle was also under-seasoned. I also thought the wine list was overpriced; they should have at least a couple of under-$30 bottles. I also thought it a little odd that the "kid's meal" came with a salad; how many kids eat salad? Nevertheless, my entire family was very appreciative of the meal and the service. We will return.
(5)Chris B.
The food here was absolutely incredible! I had the trout with quinoa, my wife had the wild prawns and the kids had pizza. Our server Andrew was the best and the entire staff was so friendly. Coming here from out of town, we weren't sure what to expect but the atmosphere was cozy with earth toned hues throughout. We live three hours away, but this place is worth the trip--we'll definitely be back!

Had a reservation for 7pm for 2 people on a Saturday night in January. Led to our table- no problem. People turned away from the door who didn't have reservations. Many empty tables in the dining room. Wait staff talking near the open kitchen. Too bad none of them came by. The very nice person pouring water was fantastic. She informed the wait staff we were waiting and had the glasses filled 3 times. Finally she just took our order! (No specials mentioned- but we were just happy to be ordering something). So 45 minutes after being seated we finally ordered. 5 minutes later, one of the chatting waitresses by the kitchen came by and asked how I wanted the steak cooked. I told her and she walked away. No introduction. At this point we figured the water person was our waiter. We laughed. Then the same waitress came out with our food. I asked if she was indeed our waiter and she let us know that yes she was. We smiled. For the rest of the night we heard everything twice- once from the water person who was very nice and once in a much colder tone from the waitress. The manager caught wind of this and was apologetic. We told him how great the water person was. Then the waitress brought our check and the manager showed up with a much lower one at the same time. The waitress had no clue. Props to the manager for stepping in. I REALLY hope that the tip I left- 20 pct. Of the real total - went to the water person. Food was good. A bit pricey. Service by the wait staff something you may always remember!

The hostess greeted me with a heartwarming smile as soon as I entered. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The leather chairs in the lounge were very relaxing. The I was pleased with the unique choices. My meal was served very quickly and was presented well. I definitely recommend this as a fine dining establishment. The menu is not what you will find anywhere around. I will be back without a doubt

Oustanding service, excellent ambiance, great food. I really like their open kitchen plan and the menu tiked a lot of my "must have's" for modern Italian fusion. Porchetta, off the chain, primera corsa pasta dishes were awesome as well. Wine list very extensive, and somewhat over priced, as usual for the mtns. Good service, our waitress was April, and she reminded me off the staff @ Ricard Camarena in Valencia. Great for date nite, or intimate with family. they have a couple long tables.

The best ambience and most authentic Italian food in Winter Park. And oh so reasonable. Everything is extraordinary. Ask for Marco.
(5)Scott M.
Best new restaurant in winter park. Had the mussels, trout and chocolate gelato pie. All was GREAT! Had a great experience and our waiter Marcos was awesome. Topher had the best cocktails. Highly recommend the old fashioned and the amaretto sour. Extensive wine list. Highly Recommend

A true find! Valario's is well done all the way around. From the tasty cocktails to the fresh take on salads to the northern Italian fare Volario's did not disappoint. This is a must try when in Winter Park!
(5)Brock M.
Marco and Topher were legit. Great service, great meals and deserts. A must if visiting the town of winter park.

Tony R. and I cruising through the Rockies in Grand County, Colorado. After a few adventures at Winter Park Resort, we were hungry, and a local resort showed up on Yelp featuring an Italian restaurant, with excellent reviews. We popped in only to find out that it was closed for the summer. Alas, all was not lost. The desk agent remembered reading in the local paper that a new Italian spot just opened a few days earlier. She could not remember the name, but navigated us right to their door! Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly hostess, who inquired if we had reservations or not. Of course, just popping in town for the day, we did not have a reservation, but they happily accommodated us in the charming and cozy bar. We started with a few drinks, which were expertly mixed to perfection. We had conversations with two servers who attended to every need throughout our visit, and made us feel right at home. The general manager stopped by, and gave some excellent suggestions for our menu selection. He suggested sharing as a way to experience a larger selection of the offerings. Needless to say, everything we tasted was superb. Exceeding expectations on all fronts. I would recommend this spot for anyone in the Grand County area looking for an inventive, and posh, but comfortable Italian experience.

What a GEM in the middle of Rockies! The service was warm, friendly, and helpful. I believe our servers name was Sarah. Our table also enjoyed and benefited from the cocktail and wine suggestions from Mitch (I think his last name was Fox, general manager of the restaurant/hotel). Their knowledge of their Northern Italian cuisine was spot on as everything ordered from our party of six was cooked to perfection and delicious. Their charcuterie platter was an adventure of the senses enjoyed by all at our table. All of the meats and fish were prepared to the exact specifications of the diner. Needless to say, there was very little sharing going on. Because I don't come across Porchetta on menu's all too frequently, I had to indulge. The cut of meat was generous and mouth watering to the last bite. The menu offered at Volario's seems to suit the beautiful alpine setting on which this GEM of a restaurant sits.

food was delicious, server was great. recommend pasta antica, any of the pizzas (four cheese was so good), drinks were perfect (especially whiskey cocktails). highly recommended.

Finally a really good restaurant in Winter Park. We are from Chicago and are crazy foodies. We own a place in Winter Park and when we are visiting are generally resigned to cooking at home or driving to Devil's thumb. However, this place is great. It is a testament to the fact that you actually can have a great restaurant in Winter Park that serves fresh and high quality food. We are thrilled.

We went to Volarios twice with high hopes The first time the food was excellent-a special Valentine's Day menu. It would have been nice of the hostess to mention that before taking us to our table. It was $60 prefix or a la carte with the most affordable entree, a pasta, $33. It was pricy and we could not order off the regular menu which had brought us there in the first place. The prices were worth it as the food, presentation and service was great, except the woman who brought our bread. Our 2nd visit was a comedy of errors. The woman responsible for pouring water, bringing bread and balsamic could use some fine tuning and guidance as to how to interact with diners. When we asked for a bit more balsamic she looked at the dwindling bottle and said, "this is all we have for the night...but you asked first so I guess you get more". We were stunned. Luckily we were in a good mood and it provided some comic relief. A suggestion would be to have balsamic at each table so we don't have to interact with this woman who made us extremely uncomfortable. We also asked for water without ice (since it's freezing out) and she wasn't happy about that at first. Our waiter Quinn was our savior. He was sweet and apologetic as it seemed they were out of half the menu and the resounding commentary was "we had a really busy weekend" eh, not an acceptable response in my opinion for a restaurant that is supposed to be the best in town. They served us old focaccia because they were out of that also. Quinn made it better by offering us free dessert or if we didn't want dessert he would comp something else. From what we did order the pizzettas were great. The pasta was unique. The soup tasted as if it was out of a can (Campbell's?) - maybe they were out of that too? We were really excited about Volarios since we've had great experiences at Devils Thumb Ranch at Hecks and The Ranch House Restaurant. Volarios has some maturing to do... We'll give it another try maybe next season once they get it together.

Incredible! After a long afternoon of rafting, we were happily escorted to the outdoor fire pit and served the most delicious, off the menu wine along with appetizers and amazing food. Absolutely get anything with the lamb and they were so accommodating with gluten free/vegetarian needs. Ask for Marco and you will get top notch service! Cheers!

I took my family to Volarios recently when they came to visit because we had a good meal there once before and were expecting the same. What we got instead was terrible service and food that was okay but not worth the price. We were sat with only one other table in the dining room. The waitress came and was hard to hear over the empty room because she was so quite and seemingly timid. She asked if we were ready to order drinks and we told her we needed a minute, so she waited for what seemed like a long time (despite the almost empty dining room) and then finally came back when we were ready to order food too. She only took our drink orders and then walked away to struggle with putting them into the computer for a long time (why she couldn't just tell the bartender what we wanted and deal with it later so that we didn't have to wait, I don't know) and of course we waited for bread (why does it always take so long to deliver this stale, cold bread? It's always been my experience at Volarios and it seems absurd). We sat with menus in front of us at the table without ordering any food and before we got drinks for over a half hour. You could tell the gentleman who kept refilling our water was aware of the problem because he would update us on the servers whereabouts. At one point he informed us our server was making our drinks; interesting because I could see the bartender in the kitchen doing what appeared to be nothing. When we finally ordered the first item was the field greens salad and our server asked to see it on the menu. Apparently she didn't know what it was...? After taking our order and appearing to once again struggle to put it in the computer, the food actually didn't take very long to arrive. The gnocchi was very dense as were the meatballs, both weren't what we had experienced before and could have come from a Macaroni Grill for all I know. My fathers trout was over cooked and served with a few pieces of grilled asparagus, quinoa and a handful of plain kalamata olives, okay but certainly not something worth the $25 price tag. My mothers pizza was the highlight of the meal, it was well prepared and delicious. The server managed to forget our other entree however (we ordered two entrees and four other items, all to be shared between four adult) and when I mentioned it the server made no apologies or anything, just walked away. Again, the gentleman refilling water was more aware of the problem and HE was the one who apologized and told us the kitchen would have it out shortly. When it came I had to wait to ask for a steak knife. Our drinks were all empty before this point as well, in fact the server had even cleared our empty drink glasses and didn't bother to offer us refills. I also wasn't sure how long it would take to get a refill though considering how difficult it seemed to get our first drinks. When the bill came nothing had been removed for the servers error or incompetence and we were asked to pay for the dish the she had forgotten. For the price at Volarios I expect service and food to be top of the line and this was far from it. If you're new to serving you probably shouldn't do fine dining first. If you don't know the menu/computer/systems at the restaurant you work at then you should probably have some personality and customer service skills to make up for it. The manager and sous chef were both present that night and no one came to our table to ask about our dinner, nevermind apologize for the missed entree making me think they didn't care about our experience. IF we ever go back it would be for pizza and drinks at the bar, I'm tired of mediocre (or in this case just plain bad) service for so much money.

A must go if you're ever in Winter Park! The atmosphere is AMAZING with options to sit in the lounge/bar area with a beautiful fireplace or the dining room. The service is exceptional, there is a story behind every dish and cocktail so be sure to ask! Our group had several things from the menu (I made sure to take a bite off each place) and each dish blew me away. Not your typical heavy Italian food, but beautiful rustic dishes with fresh veggies and loads of flavor. While it's a beautiful restaurant it is totally fine to go in casually dressed after a long day at the slopes. I live here and have many friends/family members visiting over the season and have already planned it as the last night "send off" meal for everyone!
(5)Jennifer P.
Seriously amazing food. The burrata caprese was awesome, the fettuccine with pancetta was perfect, light and flavorful and the tiramisu was the best we've ever had. Order it. Even if you're stuffed. Great service, very glad we found this on yelp.

I'd like to rate higher but I can't. We had a reservation for 7pm and were promptly lead to our table. It was a round table in the main dinning room. I asked to be moved to a different table because the table was wedged between a service breakfront and a sideboard for ordering. The host was very gracious and was kind enough to ask us to wait and 3-4 minutes and later present a better placed table. I sensed that they were a bit overwhelmed due to a crowded evening. Service was friendly. A couple of items were sold out but what we ordered was good not great, not hot just warm. Now the real bad, my daughters meal was not brought to the table until most of us were 3/4 of the way through our meals. Now to qualify my rating to some degree. It was our first evening in WP after a long flight delayed trip in, North Easterners still adjusting to altitude who had skied a full day on the mountain. We had only entrees because we were so tired. With all of that out I still think the three stars is correct. I'm committed to trying Volario's again because I think there is a better experience to be had.
(3)Derek G.
I've been skiing and dining in WP for 25 years and this is the best restaurant to find the town of Winter Park. Their dishes are so fresh and unique. Rocky Mountain trout as fresh as catching it in the river and their homemade pastas really shine. I like the pappardelle. Yum!!! And don't forget to try a fresh made cocktail and dessert!
(5)Julie P.
We had our first dinner in Winter Park here, which was a mistake because nothing else came close to the quality of food or service. Everything, from the waitstaff, to the drinks, to the entrees and to the kids meals, were outstanding. If I had one complaint, and this is pretty minor, it was a bit too hot in there, so we were stripping down to our t-shirts while we ate. Otherwise, a perfect meal!
(5)Matt D.
Beautiful place with excellent food. The special appetizer was delicious. The balsamic is the best I have ever tasted. Even the table salt was special and memorable. Both our homemade pasta dishes were superb. The service was excellent. We will be back many times!
(5)John S.
We really enjoyed our meal at Volario's, a great, and much needed addition, to the Winter Park dining scene. Creative cocktails kicked off the meal, then our waiter Topher expertly guided us through the menu. We chose to sample a few antipasti for the table. All were excellent; the padron peppers, the white bean arugula salad, the vegetable soup - but the burrata caprese was a standout - a deconstructed version of the Italian classic. It was amazing! The entrees were just as impressive - pappardelle pasta with wild mushrooms, gnocchi with lamb sugo, and the porchetta, were not only beautifully presented, but also generous portions. No room for dessert, but we'll be back. Fantastico!
(5)B. Q.
Excellent food. I'm a frequent visitor to the Winter Park area and have eaten at a lot of different places there, and this is by far one of the best. The food was delicious, and our server, Marco, was a very friendly young man and could answer all of our questions to a T.

This restaurant is not easy to find but it's worth the effort. Volario's is the restaurant in Vasquez Creek Inn (just north of the McDonald's). There is a relatively small sign for Volario's that is easy to miss - look for the Vasquez Creek Inn sign instead. Volario's specializes in Northern Italian cuisine and they have done a great job. The food is excellent, and the service couldn't be better. Their salads are well-made (balanced salinity and acidity), their homemade pasta is divine (gnocchi are light!), and their meats well-executed. We even had room for dessert -- made-to-order deconstructed tiramasu. A great ending to a great meal. Kudos deserved.
(5)Heidi H.
Had an outstanding dinner at Volario's tonight. Had the Leather Boots cocktail (whisky) which was excellent. Fettuccine (with brussels sprouts and pancetta) was incredible' pasta all homemade. My husband had the pasta with muscles and devoured it. They also have a lovely children's menu. Wait staff very attentive and atmosphere nice. Certainly will return. Can highly recommend.
(5)Miner S.
Great service, amazing food, fantastic atmosphere. Cocktails were fantastic and reasonably priced! Highly recommended!
(5)Sarah L.
The bar area is my favorite whether you are with family or out for an adult evening. The bartenders and servers make it their job to ensure you feel important and that they customize the experience to meet your needs. Their drinks are all unique and are made through specialized training. The food is incredible. Strange to say it but I actually crave the white bean salad and their vestivio pizza is to die for amongst other dishes. Although Volerios is fairly new, this is my number 1 choice for dining in Winter Park.
(5)Jackie M.
We came to Volario's on a Sunday night during our stay at Devil's Thumb Ranch. If you go on a slow night and have a chance to sit in the bar, do it! We had the bar to ourselves and Topher as our server...he made the night great for us and was so knowledgable on food and drinks. It was the best meal of the whole weekend! We had an appetizer, salad, entree and dessert, all of which were wonderful. If you're in the area, you absolutely must eat here!
(5)Jennster S.
I waited a few weeks to write this review. After all the (mostly) glowing reviews, I thought our poor experience was somehow my fault! After mulling it over for a while, I have come to the conclusion that me and my family did, indeed, have a mostly bad meal here. We visited during "locals appreciation week." This was a smoking deal at 50% off all menu items, including bottles of wine! We had a reservation which was good as the place was packed. Things started out ok, service was attentive and the appetizers were fabulous. We had the olive e mandorie, bruschetta and meatballs. My arugula salad was fabulous too. They were out of a few menu items, including what I had planned to order, the flatiron steak, however they had a substitute ribeye. I ordered it medium, even specifying pink in the middle. My kids each ordered pizza, husband ordered Pasta Antica. The was another steak ordered at our table as well, also requested as medium. Things went south from here. There was a table near us who were seated after us, same size group at 6. We sat and watched them enjoy their meals for nearly 30 minutes before we saw our entrees. I'm sure we ordered before them as well. Our waitress was nowhere to be found. Eventually, our food was brought out by someone else. The kids said the pizzas were good. My steak was what I would consider blackened and very well done as was the other steak at the table. My husbands pasta was one solid mass of noodles stuck together. Maybe it was supposed to be like that? It could only be eaten with a knife and fork. The noodles were like paste and the dish had no flavor. I sat for a while, not eating my steak in hopes the waitress or someone would come by to check. Nobody did. I so wanted to send back my food, as did the other adults at the table, but in the end we didn't. I felt like we were getting a good deal with the 1/2 off, and the apps and salads were good. So we cut our losses and paid our bill and left. Happy we didn't pay full price but knowing we wouldn't be back.

Was walking by and ended up going in after admiring the front doorway. Walked in to their pre-opening kitchen/menu test for the employee's and was greeted like long lost family and invited in. My wife and I enjoyed the drinks, the meal, and most especially, the company. Check out what Evan/Andrew's got working in the kitchen, taste the bartenders latest chemistry, and enjoy. The Padron Peppers and the Pasta Antica made for a nice take on classic and rural Italian fare. We will be back!
